Women and Wellness is an annual event hosted to educate guests and provide information on mental health and mental illness. This fundraising event helps to provide immediate counselling services to residents in Niagara with proceeds supporting CMHA Niagara’s Walk-In Counselling program.

Over 600 women filled the room to capacity at Club Roma on February 15th, 2018 for the 8th Annual Women and Wellness event, an educational fundraiser supporting Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Niagara Branch. Attendees and sponsors raised over $85,000 for CMHA Niagara’s Walk-In Counselling Program. That means we have raised $314,000 to date with over 3,600 in attendance over the past 8 years.

We want to thank all those who came out to support our event this year. A special thank you goes out to our emcee, Ruth Unrau, for enchanting us with her humor and charm, and to Ann Dowsett Johnston for bravely sharing her powerful story of struggle and recovery

Our 7th Annual Women and Wellness event on Thursday, February 16 was the biggest educational fundraiser we’ve hosted to date. With generous support from our sponsors, donors, and guests, we raised a record-breaking $56,479.31 on the night of the event in support of our Walk-In Counselling service.

The event hosted over 700 women (bringing Club Roma to capacity), and featured a panel discussion for the first time since its inception in Niagara. The panel included Stuart Dorricott, Board President of CMHA Niagara; Andrea Lindsay, Board Member of CMHA Niagara; and Mary Barzyk, Program Manager at CMHA Niagara. The panelists shared their personal experiences and professional expertise in answering commonly asked questions related to mental health concerns. The event also welcomed Susan Stewart, comedian and author, as the evening’s keynote speaker.

Once again, we are incredibly proud of and grateful for our amazing group of volunteers who make this evening possible. Their unrelenting dedication to building a mental wellness community is nothing short of inspiring.

SAVE THE DATE: The 8th Annual Women and Wellness event will be held on Thursday, February 15.

The 6th Annual Women and Wellness event was held on February 18th.  The event was held at Club Roma in St. Catharines and featured Valerie Pringle, a broadcaster for 35 years and now philanthropist for mental wellness, as the keynote speaker.  Tara McKendrick, Quality Manager at CMHA Niagara, spoke about the value of our Walk-In Counselling service for Niagara residents.  As an added feature, Something Something Productions produced monologues surrounding the issue of mental health and mental illness specifically for this event!  CMHA Niagara is so proud of our volunteers and the evening they have worked tirelessly on.
