Asking for donations can be intimidating. But with a few tips, you’ll be a fundraising superstar in no time!
- Start simple. An easy way to get started is by e-mailing your close friends and family. Then try reaching out to your wider social circle for support. Don’t be afraid to reach out – remember that every time you start a conversation about Ride Don’t Hide, you are helping break down the stigma around mental illness.
- Get personal. Share why you’re riding! Do you have a particular connection to mental health or to CMHA? Let people know! People donate more when they feel connected to the cause.
- Build your squad. There’s no better feeling than to have the people you care about riding with you. Invite others to join you! If they can’t make it, invite them to support your ride with a donation.
- Know what you’re asking for. Set a realistic goal and be specific about what you are asking for. “Please donate $20” is a clearer and easier action item than simply asking “please donate!”
Make it easy. Be sure to include a direct link to your personal fundraising page in all your messages. Have a question about your fundraising page and how to use it? We’ve got you covered.
