Shoppers Drug Mart renews their commitment to Women and Wellness with an $18,000 donation
Shoppers Drug Mart store owners confirmed their commitment as the presenting sponsor of the 10th Annual Women and Wellness Fundraiser dinner in support of CMHA Niagara at a corporate regional meeting held in October in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The owners presented a cheque for $18,038 to representatives from Women and Wellness and CMHA Niagara.
Women and Wellness is a fundraising event organized by volunteers in support of CMHA Niagara’s immediate and brief services, including crisis support. These programs are available across Niagara Region and offer individuals timely access to the services needed to prevent or intervene in crisis situations. CMHA offers a range of locally available and readily accessible services that can provide alternatives to emergency room visits. Some of CMHA Niagara’s immediate and brief services include Urgent Support, Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) and Safe Beds.
The 10th Annual Women and Wellness event will take place on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Centre, St. Catharines. The event features a dinner, keynote speaker and auction tables. Over 400 people are expected to attend. This year’s keynote speaker is Elizabeth Manley, an Olympic silver medalist in figure skating. Elizabeth will share her story of coming back from depression during her Olympic career and her work as a mental health advocate.
The Associate/Owners of the Shoppers Drug Marts in Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Welland were in attendance to present Women & Wellness Chair, Judy Willems and CMHA Niagara’s Executive Director, Tara McKendrick with a cheque for $18,038.00. Each year, Shoppers Drug Mart stores hold a Spring Beauty Gala in May. The day includes various cosmetic activities and promotions. Funds were raised to support the Women and Wellness event that provides funding to CMHA Niagara.
