realwork is a specialized employment program offered through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). This program helps individuals overcome barriers to employment (such as mental health issues or other disabilities) in order to find and maintain meaningful jobs.
It is our mission to promote employment, education or volunteer opportunities for people who experience mental health issues and other disabilities and to provide them with the support to live independent and integrated lives.
realwork is a specialized employment program for persons who:
- self-identify with mental health issues and are 16 years of age or older,
- are unemployed/underemployed/not in school and are wanting to increase their employability or upgrade their education/training, and
- are wanting to enhance their independence and manage their mental health in order to discover goals and opportunities related to employment, volunteer, and/or education.
realwork provides service using an individualized, person-centred approached. This means that you’re in control of your goals as they relate to employment. We’re all trained mental health professionals too, which means we can help you manage and maintain your mental health while you look for work.
We work on four main areas: career decision making, skills enhancement, job search skills, and job maintenance. If we aren’t the right service for you, we’ll help connect you to a more appropriate service. We’re here to help.
