On Saturday, September 24, 2016 we participated in the Niagara Wine Festival Grande Parade for the first time. The weather was perfect, the energy from our friends, family, and staff was high, and the encouragement and support we received from the community was incredible!
It’s okay to not be okay, and we decided to drive home that message in our inaugural float this year. All of our participants decorated a white t-shirt with two statements on the front and back. Personal insecurities, challenges, or mental health issues were displayed bravely on the front of each shirt, while the statement on the back combatted negativity with self-love, strength, and positivity.
Thanks to the generosity of Soundbox Productions, we had a fantastic DJ delivering upbeat music for our supporters to dance to the entire length of the parade. We’re grateful for the major role they played in our float’s success this year!
Executive Director, George Kurzawa, writes about the experience in another post on our blog here.
