On Friday, April 20th, Essential Collective Theatre will present “Around The World And Home Again: A Benefit for Canadian Mental Health Association” at the FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in downtown St. Catharines.
This one-woman show is about a Niagara singer who travels the world only to discover there’s no place like home. The show promises to be a wonderfully eclectic evening of music and stories and will be available for ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Tenja Hagenberg, the show’s star, and Monica Dufault, Artistic Director of Carousel Players, began this project a year ago. When Tenja tragically lost her brother to his battle with mental illness, they decided to turn the show into a benefit with the goal of raising awareness and funds for mental health services provided by CMHA Niagara to help others in need of support.
Join us this Friday as we watch Tenja take the stage with Peter Shea and friends! We’ll be collecting donations at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre before and after the show.
“In June of 2017 I lost my brother/my best friend to his battle with mental illness. A mental illness that none of us knew anything about; completely unaware. I am still learning to be able to say this aloud, accept it, and I know this a process that may last forever… but what I can do is my best to make a difference.” – Tenja Hagenberg
